A sustainable virtual research environment …

One of the major challenges of the IA-Biodiv challenge is the creation of perrenial data sets, to be used as a reference for present and future research in AI in the field of biodiversity. The IA-Biodiv challenge thus aims to share the data and technological advances that will be developed. To this end, a virtual research environment, “IA-BiodivNet”, will be set up.

The IA-BiodivNet virtual research environment will host the datasets, the AI modules developed by the consortia and the evaluation modules (repositories, test data produced and methodologies developed) set up by COpé.

… and co-constructed

The consortia participating in the challenge will have to contribute to co-construct this working environment by sharing datasets and depositing the developed AI modules.
The contents of IA-BiodivNet (data, modules and tools developed) will have to meet as much as possible the FAIR principles (Easy to find, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). The contributions to the consortia challenge (datasets and technological bricks) will be under open license and made available on IA-BiodivNet.
IA-BiodivNet will be the collaborative workspace for all the teams participating in the challenge during its entire duration (4 years). It will be set up in the first year of the challenge and will eventually be shared with all interested communities.

Training courses will be conducted by the COpé in order, in the first instance, to provide a framework for the practice and to present the rules for this sharing in the virtual research environment. In a second phase, training sessions for the community will be organised.

The virtual research environment is integrated into the Pôle National des Données de Biodiversité. It will contribute to international information systems, in particular the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).

Access to the computing resources of the TGIR-GENCI (Grand équipement national de calcul intensif)

This virtual research environment “IA-BiodivNet” will provide consortia with access to the computing resources of the TGIR-GENCI with the technical support of COpé.
